Wake Up! So What Are We Thinking? Bills Run The Table From Here?

November 15th, 2010 by admin

Before I get on the Sunday NFL Games, I’d like to voice my concern that the Bills v. Lions game was not moved (by divine mandate/Commissioner Goodell demand) to the Sunday night featured game.  I mean, I think the old saying still holds true, “As goes Buffalo and Detroit, so goes the nation.”  Was there any bigger draw in the NFL yesterday?

/removes tongue from cheek.

Well, my beloved Bill-skis got their first W of the season, against the other bottom feeder of the National Football League.  I am happy to see them pull out the win, because if they lost to Detroit, the possibility of them going 0-fer would have become that much more real.  Fitzpatrick looked spot on, and how about Fred Jackson?  I know the Bills have a stable of running backs, but I’m truly looking forward to watching him and Spiller work as a dynamic tandem.

As always, our Buffalo Bills coverage is presented to you buy Transit Towne FWG’s choice for buying cars in Western New York.

THHHHHEEEEE BILLS WIN!!!

November 15th, 2010 by admin

It only took ten weeks and a visit from the Detroit Lions to secure the first win for the Bills. Fred Jackson led the way with a monster game (133 RU yds and 2 TDs) and a solid defensive effort to solidify the win. It was pure pandemonium at Ralph Wilson Stadium; with the crowd rushing the field to tear down goal posts, fireworks going off and even Ryan Fitzpatrick telling the camera man “he’s going to Disneyworld!” …Actually none of this really happened, but it should’ve. No fan in the NFL has been through more heart ache then a Buffalo Bill fan; from having to endure Scott Norwood’s wide right kick, to losing FOUR Super Bowls in a ROW, to the “Music City Miracle” and even having to look at Mark Kelso’s retarded helmet for all those years.

Which bring me to Mark Miller, the man who I feel personifies ALL Bill fans. Here’s a video of Mark days before the Bills played the Cowboys. He was a little excited for this game, but I wonder how he felt after yesterday’s game. If anyone knows Mark please have him contact me, I would love to setup an exclusive interview.

TROY POLAMALU GETS HIS HAIR DID!

November 9th, 2010 by admin

Good thing Troy’s hair is insured by Head & Shoulders , because Domata Peko might have knocked it off with this hit.  Peko’s hair might soon have Head & Shoulders knocking on his door too.

Week 9 Wrap-Up

November 8th, 2010 by admin

Looking at the week there was plenty to like and a lot to dislike here are my non-fantasy thoughts:

  • Looking at the slate of the games before the season, who would have thought the most riveting game would have been played in Oakland between the Raiders and the Chiefs?
  • The Eagles really seemed to have a great game plan in place. They made Peyton Manning look mortal yesterday. Rarely can anyone do this besides the strippers he hangs around after the game.
  • Hi, we are looking for the Cowboys, has anyone seen them? How is it that these bums can actually walk out on the field wearing the same uniforms that legends wore. Can the NFL please, some how, step in and ask the Cowboys to not play another game the rest of the way.
  • Way to go Cleveland! What an impressive win yesterday against the team a week ago was the best the AFC had to offer. Colt McCoy showed why he is the future yesterday. Peyton Hillis…
  • The Giants look to be the best the NFL has to offer right now. The real question here is, could that be a curse or a blessing with the way this season has gone for the top of the league. Eli looked like the MVP of the league and the defense continues to dominate.
  • Speaking of MVP, can a player on a losing team win the MVP? Well, ya he can and his name is Philip Rivers. Has anybody taken notice in what he has done this season? Everybody has said that Peyton Manning has done so much with little. Well that may be true, but look at the players that Rivers in dealing with. Look at his coach as well, Norv Turner may be one of the worst in the league and yet this man continues to play at such a high level it is ridiculous.

Now on to the Fantasy Studs and Duds of the weekend:

  • Brett Favre turned the clock back yesterday in Minnesota. He put up his finest performance of the season. The game started off with a pick, and that was one of the last fantasy errors he made the rest of the day. He racked up 446 yards and 2 TD’s.
  • Phillip “MVP” Rivers put up another effort yesterday to further along his MVP push of the season. He garnered up 295 in yards and 4 TD’s in a game the Chargers needed. All this without Gates and Malcolm Floyd, I should throw in as well.
  • Eli Manning and Aaron Rodgers. I place them together because they had the same stats as one another. Each finished with 3 TD’s to zero picks and 295 yards. Week in and week out Eli is really starting to perform like a fantasy starter and Rodgers showed us why the Pack was the favorites to reach the Super Bowl at season’s beginning.
  • Peyton Hillis was the best Peyton is fantasy world yesterday. He is a beast and showed us that he is nimble as well. Did anyone see him hurdle the Patriot defender yesterday? This man reminds us of Mike Alstot. He rumbled his way to 184 yards and 2 TD’s.
  • Arian Foster continued to blow off his flash in the pan label and performs like a top flight back. Some can argue nobody this side of Adrian Peterson, is better this season. He finished with 127 yards and 2 TD’s.
  • Michael Turner had a nice game in a must win position for the team from Hot-lanta, where the players play. The Burner had 107 and 2 TD’s and helped pick up the slack with Roddy White sidelined.
  • Steve Johnson has sped onto the fantasy radar the last few weeks. He finished up with 11 grabs for 145 yards and tried his best to help the Bills get a W.
  • Hakeem Nicks continues to live up the preseason hype and dominant secondary’s throughout the NFL. His 128 and 1 score has become a weekly expectation, so much we don’t even go nuts by this.
  • DeSean Jackson really took it easy and wasn’t ready for the game this week, right? One would imagine after the hit he suffered a few weeks back, but not Flash. 7 grabs, 1 score and 109 yards have shown all the naysayers that he is not just a speed option, but a true number 1 in the NFL.
  • Jacob Tamme played the role of Dallas Clark with 11 catches, 108 yards and 1 score. He has played real well in Clark’s place, but as my portly friend said yesterday “I could catch 100 balls if Peyton threw to me”.

Vision Dodge Presents: Moves In Futility, Bills Sign Shawne Merriman

November 4th, 2010 by admin

So the Buffalo Bills Signed Shawne Merriman.  I could probably end this blog post there and make an equally prolific point about how hopeless that move is, but I’d like to indulge a brief narcissistic rant, if I may.  What the hell is going on in the Bills’ front office that they believe their best move, at 0-7 is to sign LB Shawne Merriman.  Forget about whether Merriman still has good days left in him, are we really going to argue (or even go along with) the idea that Buffalo’s biggest need is at linebacker?  Give me a break.

I’d make changes (not that anyone cares,  hell even Ralph Wilson doesn’t give a shit anymore) at the front office, offensive line, WR, Defensive Line, Secondary, and then Linebackers (in that exact order).  The front office can’t get out of it’s own way (not since Big Bill Polean left), and there is absolutely no winning games if you can’t run the ball, or  protect your QB (no matter how awful that QB may be).  As a Bills fan, I’ve already packed it in at 0-7.   I was in Vegas, in MGM’s sports book sadly finding my beloved Bills going off at 850:1 to win the Super Bowl.  What happened to this once proud franchise?

If Myron Pryor Is Fined I’m Going To Lose My Shit….Happy Monday People

November 1st, 2010 by admin

Minnesota Vikings Brett Favre was forced to leave Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots in the fourth quarter after suffering a gash to the chin. He suffered the severe cut, which required eight stiches,  as a result of a tackle by Patriots defensive lineman Myron Pryor

Ah, the pussification of football continues.  If you saw the hit (above) then you know that this was by all means a clean one.  If the NFL fines or suspends Pryor for this blow, I’m going to lose my shit.  I understand the concern for player safety, but it is impossible to change the direction of your pass rush mid-move.  As a defensive lineman you use all your effort, all your strength to get to the quarterback.  Now the NFL thinks it appropriate to add one more thing to the task, “Gee wiz 315lb defensive tackle, at the last minute would you mind considering the safety of the quarterback by adjusting the angle of your helmet? Thanks.”   Not to mention that all these rules protecting WR’s and QB’s are in stark contrast to the lack of rules that protect linebackers, defensive backs, or the D-line (point in case, when was the time you saw a cut block, or hi-lo called?…exactly).

As always, our NFL Coverage is sponsored by Vision Automotive and Transit Towne…they’re good peoples, check them out.

Week 6 Boom or BUST?

October 15th, 2010 by Suge

Sorry about the slacking with 40oz postings, but we’ve been on a real bender of late.  Here som helpful insight for Week 6

Booms:

Phillip Rivers QB (San Diego): they have channeled their inner Air Coryell Offense in San Diego and lit the world on fire this season. Rivers is coming off two career weeks and I do not see him slowing down. Watch for him to air the ball out this week against an overachieving defense in St. Louis. Rivers is the man to lead them to victory now with a diminished running game in San Diego.

Ronnie Brown RB (Miami): time for the Dolphins to get the ground game going and Brown is the man to start them up. The Dolphins will be playing against the walking wounded in Green Bay and look for them to pound the front seven that is missing too many key pieces to slow them. Ronnie Brown is way too talented to keep playing so mediocre. Look for the Wildcat to be set loose this week.

Hakeem Nicks WR (New York): all he did was catch TDs early on this season, now he is becoming a dominant force in the Giants air attack. Nicks is slowly becoming the number 1 WR in this offense and has a great matchup in the Lions this week.

Mike Wallace WR (Pittsburgh): I know the rapist is making his first start of the season. I know he may be rusty from the start, but hear me out. Big Ben will provide the big arm Wallace needs to showcase his abilities. Wallace is a burner, and has shown this with Charlie Batch at QB. Charlie Batch!

Antonio Gates TE (San Diego): this is my lazy pick. I think I can place him here any week and look good. I am gonna put him here until he has a bye week. I may even then still keep him here during that week. Gates is gonna continue his dominance at this position. Look at all the skill positions in the NFL; TE is the only one where the number 1 player is that much better than all his counterparts. There is no 1a to Gates, he stands alone.

BUSTs:

Brett Favre QB (Minnesota): he’s complaining about his elbow, he can’t keep it in his pants and the Vikings are falling apart. Keep him off your team right now. The Cowboys are more hungry and have looked better (not saying much) than the Vikings this year as these 2 teams have been the biggest disappointments of the seasons.

Peyton Hillis RB (Cleveland): I love the Beast as much as anyone, but this is the week for him to sit. He is going up against one of the best D’s in all of the land and has no QB this week. I saw an earlier report that Josh Cribbs may take plenty of snaps at QB this week. I wish that was a joke, but is an actual true statement. Hillis is a very good player, but has a terrible matchup. Sit him this week, but only this week.

Michael Bush RB (Oakland): not only is this a bad matchup against a pretty good run D in SF, but McFadden may be back so he will see his carries fall off as well. Bush is a good player, but not a good fantasy player when he is splitting carries. Keep Bush out of the lineup this week, or try to trade him for some value now while he is a hot player.

Dwayne Bowe WR (Kansas City): how can someone so talented look so terrible at times? He dropped 2 key passes last week that would have won the game for KC in Indy last week and has lost the trust of his team at this point. Bowe is so talented that this is such a frustrating situation for not only his team, but also for all of his fantasy owners.
