FWG Intern: Comfy Sacks Are The Freaking Best

November 29th, 2010 by admin

FWG bought the interns a Comfy Sack.  One decided to pen his thoughts:  COMFY SACKS ARE THE FREAKING BEST.
(Glad to see that journalism degree is paying off, Steve.)

Sunday’s are the best. No, c’mon now… don’t look ahead to Monday. Think about Sunday! It is the best day to hang, watch some football and throw a few back.

Now, think about this. You’ve got a fire lit in that fireplace of yours. You are watching your team on the tube – and you are chillen’ in one of the comfiest things ever created. But for real. They are that comfy.

In fact, I am actually writing this post right now from the bean bag chair that I have here at my house. I just sank and I think I’m stuck here for the day… and if you don’t hear from me… Well, you know where I am.

Comfy Sacks has changed my Sunday drastically. No, I’m not watching bowling on ESPN. Yes, that really is on. But, instead I can finally watch games in comfort. Let’s break this down for a minute here.

When I think of the word “comfy” – I think about my pajama’s, my slippers (yeah, I have slippers, what?) and most definitely my bed. Add this puppy to the list. I’m telling you, you won’t be able to get up.

Now, when I think of the word “sack” – I think about… Well, yeah you can’t be throwing that word around me like that.

As I sat in my bean bag, I was able to catch eight of 12 games that differed by a touchdown or less. That is pretty amazing if you think about it. And four of those nine were within a field goal.

Brett Favre finally won a game, the Eagles disappointed, and the Giants, despite boo’s from fans throughout the entire game, came out as winners. I think the New Meadowlands still has fans boo’ing, despite the win. Sheesh. C’mon guys.

11 weeks in, we’ve got some good races cooking and the final five weeks are going to be fun. So, might as well get on ComfySacks.com and find that perfect bean bag chair before the holiday!

I still haven’t moved after I finished that turkey. I may never get up.

Thoughts From A Miserable Bills Fan

November 29th, 2010 by admin

I’ve been a Buffalo Bills fan for my entire life.  I remember watching the infamous Superbowl games on a TV bigger than me at my Dad’s restaurant.  How many of you have been a football player for Halloween?  I was.  Just a wee one as Jim Kelly.  I remember watching the last playoff game that the Bills had the pleasure of playing in, and I will always believe that that was a forward pass.

It’s been 11 seasons since the last time the Bills made the playoffs and they’ve only had 1 winning season in the past decade, 2004.  Buffalo, as well as Western NY, needs the Bills to perform well because, well, we live in Western NY.  The NFL recently came down on the best tailgating in the country, thanks for ruining a tradition and our fun.  Remember, alcohol keeps you warm in the winter and in Western NY, that begins around Halloween.

So the weather sucks, the NFL hates how we party and for the past 10 years the front office has decided to make terrible draft picks and trades.  Three 1st round picks have been running backs: 2003 – Willis McGahee, 2007 – Marshawn Lynch, and 2010 – C.J. Spiller.  Notice only Spiller remains with the team.  I realize having two quality backs is the direction that the NFL is going, but come on.  Two defensive linemen picked in the first round, 2006 – John McCargo and 2009 – Aaron Maybin, have been healthy scratches for most of the season.  If they can’t make the field on a surprisingly bad defense, then they need to be traded or cut.

Having a revolving door policy on coaches haven’t helped.  Many of the coaches have or are great coordinators but poor head coaches.  Ralph Wilson’s inability to open his wallet and spend some money has only hurt the team from getting the best.  Currently, while I’ve questioned some of the plays called by Chan Gailey, I applaud his ability to do as well as he has with the personal currently on the team.  Hopefully Gailey will be given a chance to get the players he wants, to help create a playoff caliber team.

To get this franchise to the playoffs, the team needs to not do what they’ve done in the past, and that is win just enough to give the fans hope, only to fall short and end up outside of the top picks.  We got our one win, can’t go 0-16 now, so lets make sure we get the next quarterback to lead us to, and hopefully win at least one, a Superbowl or four.

Gobble, Gobble… Let’s Be Thankful!

November 24th, 2010 by admin

Sit back this Thanksgiving and enjoy the company of friends and family, sit by the fire and enjoy a big fat turkey!

Hey folks, Kyle Lyddy here… Little guest appearance on the FWG blog. After all, I am a fat white guy myself. Not sure I could ever put the work in and get as ripped as our boy Rob Lunn, but maybe some day. Rob has told you about some of his Ted’s gatherings in Storrs. Let me share some of my thoughts.  After all,  I attended Ted’s Univer…I mean UConn for four years too.

Ted’s was my SPOT.  I enjoyed tucking myself in the corner of the bar where the window is, just in case one of those Jamison shots went down wrong - the window would have been conveniently located. I think I tried every little mixture those bartenders put together for me - creative, vibrant and strong drinks that got me crankin’ to the “Piano Man” blues. Yeah, you know… my karaoke song is Piano Man. That’s just what I sing and how I roll. Don’t judge. Not a head banger by any means, but hey a song that got the bar going a little bit.

Â

Tonight, you’ve got some serious stuff cooking. If you’re still in Storrs tonight, you’re a trooper. But, this is when the magic happens. Over break… in Storrs! There really should be a movie that is made about it – those who have lived it – know what goes down. Yeah yeah, you’re right. There isn’t much that goes down.

And, since our beloved bar is in fact closed tonight on this glorious Thanksgiving Eve, we hope that you can visit  the Ted’s website and tell your favorite bar story.

Click HERE to sign the guestbook and share your most memorable Ted’s moment. And, if there was a password tonight – you better bet your bottoms, it would have been, yup, you got it… Piano Man.

Enjoy your Thanksgiving. There are plenty of things we should all be thankful for. Enjoy your family and friends – and be appreciative of the little things. Oh yeah, and enjoy these match-ups.

Is Ochocinco ready for a little Thanksgiving Day feast in New York?

Dos y Ocho – Bills Outscore Bengals 35-0 in Second Half of Win

November 23rd, 2010 by admin

Bengals fans are flustered after Batman and Robin fail to produce again

Talk about a disappointing season… for the Bengals that is. Leading 31-14 at halftime, the Bengals were well on their way to their third win of the season. Or were they? Head Coach Chan Gailey led his Bills out of the locker room after halftime on Sunday, and whatever he said… certainly worked. The Bills outscored the Bengals 35-0 in the second half to beat the Bengals 49-31

Buffalo receiver Steve Johnson led the way for the thriving Bills, as he caught three touchdowns and had five other catches on the day totaling 137 yards.

After the game, Bengals receiver Terrell Owens said, “We are terrible.” No kidding. With tons of empty seats and even more boo’s, the Bengals fell into an even bigger blur this week falling at home to the now 2-8 Buffalo Bills – atrocious.

Ochocinco doesn’t care though – shoot. He got engaged this week to VH1 Basketball Wives star Evelyn Lozada. His mind is elsewhere. His overly active twitter account tweeted a few hours before the game:

“Getting ready to warm up for todays game by playing DANCE CENTRAL on 360 Kinect, don’t judge me this shh is a workout #justsaying”

A few hours after the game… @Ochocinco was silent.

The poor Bengals fans. As for the Bills – how about hat second half domination. A disappointing defensive effort in the first half, turned into a completely different game in the second half. Things are looking up! They play the 7-3 Steelers next week. Eeek.

BUT, the game is in Buffalo. And of course you know who is sponsoring the Bills coverage each week - you got it – Transit Towne - FWG’s only choice for buying cars in Western New York.

Bye-Bye Brad Childress

November 23rd, 2010 by admin
Brad Childress picked Brett Favre up at the airport in the beginning of the season to ensure he was a Viking. Will Favre drive Childress back to the airport for his fairwell?

What happened to the Minnesota Vikings? Blame was put directly on that of head coach Brad Childress. Childress FIRED… for the interceptions Favre’s been throwing? I mean, come on. The Vikings are in fact 3-7. But, Brett Favre does have 17 interceptions and only 10 touchdowns.

But Childress shoots on out of Minnesota and defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier has been promoted. Let us just hope he isn’t on the plane with this woman on his way out.

Â

Or, maybe it might cheer him up a little bit? Who knows…But this is pretty funny. I know one thing – the kid next to her – ain’t sleepin’ a lick.

The Vikings are definitely sleep-walking through their season. At 3-7, Minnesota put up a dazzling 3 points in the loss to Green Bay. The best part for the Vikings – is that the Detroit Lions are in their division, which puts them second to last. But, if they’re going to sleep in the upcoming Sunday matchup with the Redskins, they might as well try and get one of these puppies:

www.ComfySacks.com

One of the most comfortable “sacks” I’ve ever had. Now, don’t you think Brett Favre would much rather enjoy one of these sacks, than the ones he’s been getting? Dude has been sacked 19 times this season. Time for a nice sack – one that will put him to sleep – cause at this point in his career – it’s about time he hangs up the cleats.

I’ve got one – and it was one of the best nights sleep I’ve EVER gotten.  No doubt about it. But, maybe Brett should try it with his wife instead of… ahh, I’ll leave it at that.

The Rook Presents: Are you so pissed right now that Eric Johnson sealed this deal?

November 17th, 2010 by Rook

Sources confirm to UsMagazine.com that the singer, 30, became engaged to beau Eric Johnson [San Francisco 49-ers] on Thursday, just days after Us broke the news that her ex-husband, Nick Lachey, popped the question to Vanessa Minnillo, his love of nearly five years. Simpson and Lachey, 37, split in 2005, after three years of marriage. [MSNBC]

So just before she hits age 30, Jessica Simpson gains an NFL-star-studded fiance. And like thirty bills (yeah, yeah act like you didn’t notice)…at least we know this time it’s true love, right? Because if your guy can watch you slam buckets of  “sorry I don’t eat buffalo” wings til you look like you’ve applied lip plumper to your entire body, then it’s love.  Fa’sho.

Way to become the icon for every uber-feminist ever.  While the rest of us get our P90 on at 5am, treat yourself to another muffin top with a tall glass of “my man loves me for my personality”.

I’m all for working with what you got.  But if I have this:

…then you bet your daisy dukes that I’m hustling every. day. on the treadmill until my lungs bleed.

What’s up FWG NFL readers – this is The Rook.  And I can say this.  Cuz I’m a chick.

xoxo – The Rook
