Spiller Named Starting RB For Buffalo Bills

Wednesday, September 8th, 2010

bills-fanThe Bills have officially named C.J. Spiller as their starting running back. Spiller had an outstanding preseason, with a breakout, nay-sayer silencing performance against the Colts.  This is a no brainer for a Buffalo offense that has struggled to find an identity since 1996.  And by struggle to find an identity, I mean their last gasp for a playoff birth was the Music City Miracle.  There aren’t a lot of reasons to be glad you live in Buffalo, but C.J. Spiller is definitely one of them.

Vision Automotive Group Presents: Buffalo Bills Pre Season Win

Friday, August 20th, 2010

ESPN – Bills rookie running back C.J. Spiller was the team’s main option in their preseason victory over the Colts on Thursday night.
Spiller rushed 10 times for 54 yards, scoring on a brilliant 31-yard rush to open the game. He was targeted once through the air and grabbed a two-yard reception.  He was featured after veterans Fred Jackson and Marshawn Lynch were injured earlier in the week.

Holy crap.  I mean really, holy-freakin-crap.  Was it just me or did the Bills look…dare I say…decent last night.  Now before I get all the hate mail from “you people” telling me that preseason doesn’t matter, its scrub time on the field, blah blah blah.  Let me say that, generally I’d agree.  But not for a team like Buffalo which needs these preseason wins like they need oxygen.  The Bills aren’t the Colts (there I said it), they need all the momentum they can build going into the regular season.  That being said, I think last night really showcased C.J. Spiller’s talent, breaking off a few big runs and not afraid to lay the stiff arm while breaking outside.   If the Bills defense can play with a bit more consistency (although the interception for a TD was nice), Spiller/Lynch continue to run, and the QB “situation” in Buffalo finally gets settled then I don’t think expecting 9 or 10 wins is unreasonable.

Then again, this is the Buffalo Bills.

p.s.

In case you missed it, yesterday FWG had a debacle while trying to sell his Ford Bronco on Craigslist so he’s decided that driving all the way to Upstate New York to buy a car is a better option than dealing with pedophiles.  I couldn’t agree more.

If it wasn’t official, it is now! Why the McNabb trade makes the Bills the worst team in football

The After Effects…

The Donovan McNabb trade shook up a lot more that you think… What will the Redskins do with the 4th overall pick? Not take Jimmy Clausen, I can guarantee you that. What does this do to Jason Campbell?

With much speculation since the end of the year that Washington would use the 4th overall pick to draft a QB, the McNabb trade has ended that! I think they will go with an offensive lineman to protect their new signal caller. It is the best of both worlds. They get a very talented QB and can now draft a lineman to replace the retired Chris Samuels (Probably Russell Okung)

How will the Bills and Raiders play off of what just happened? Both teams need a starting QB. Do they try and make a trade for Jason Campbell? Or do they try to move up in the draft now to pluck Clausen? One could only hope that the Bills make a trade for Jason Campbell…Something like sending their 1st and 2nd round picks for him and just put the future of their franchise in jeopardy for another scrub QB. A bigger question is, do they need to move up? Will the KC Chiefs pull the trigger on Clausen and reunite him with his college coach? (Charlie Weis is the Offensive coordinator with KC now) Is there a chance that Clausen falls into the second round now? After Buffalo, I could possibly see the 49ers drafting a QB, but probably not. After that, I really don’t see a team with a need a QB.

Breaking News out of Buffalo…

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

Read the first 5 paragraphs of this article before reading this post…

Really Buffalo? QB competition likely? LIKELY?? Shit, it is MANDATORY! I can’t believe this is even news. It must have been real hard to decide between Trent Edwards’ 6 TD, 7 pick season or Ryan Fitzpatrick’s 9 TD and 10 INT season?? If that’s not enough add in Brian Brohm, who looked like a guy that had never taken a snap from behind center. (During the Bills 31-3 SPANKING in A-Town) And you say a competition is likely? I also love the part, “And Gailey didn’t rule out the team selecting a quarterback in the draft next month, or the possibility of acquiring an established starter in a trade or in free agency.” If I were in Buffalo I would do anything I could to get McNabb or Vick or Derek Anderson? At the very least Buffalo, of course you draft a QB! The possibility of acquiring a QB? It should be Buffalo’s number 1 priority this off-season. I know their offensive line is awful too and everyone thinks they need to take a lineman first but 1 O-lineman will not improve their record drastically. (Especially when one of those clowns is still behind center) Draft Clausen or Bradford and take your lumps for a year or two but I promise you Buffalo, it will pay off. But who am I to say? I only have about as much experience as the guy who is making the decisions anyway…

With the 9th pick in the 2010 NFL draft, The future LA Bills select…

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

FWG: Let me start first by saying, I am an unabashed Bills fan. Yes, my beloved Bill-ski’s, THE premiere team of the early ’90’s. Well 11 seasons and not a playoff birth to speak of, here I am, predicting the draft, when that’s really the last thing on my mind.  I should be predicting that the team ends up in Toronto or in L.A. once old man Wilson dies, and his legacy is sold to the highest bidder.  The bottom line is, this off season, the Bills need O-line, and with the recent departure (ehem, retirement) of Brad Butler, their case is almost desperate.  But in keeping with the theme of giving up, and with the Bills moving to a 3-4 defense next year, I say screw the “needs” (like, um, a playoff game) and take a nose tackle.  With the smart money saying there are no premiere DT/NT’s left, I’m gonna go out on a limb, and say take THE fat black guy.  Terrence Cody, my 2010 NFL Draft pick for the Buffalo Bills.  God save me.

Jay: Oh FWG, it pains me to listen to Bills fans. You are correct on the idea that they need an OT. Last year they lost Jason Peters to Philly and now the retirement of Butler. If somehow Clausen or Bradford fall to them, I think they will jump at that but by no means is THE FBG going to be picked here. It is clear to me that he ate his way out of the first round. He weighed in at 370 lbs. at the SR Bowl. I know he got down to 356 lbs. at the combine but you and me both know that one weekend in Buffalo with 15 buckets of chicken wings and BOOM! 380 lb. T-Cody is back. I think the Bills should draft OT Bruce Campbell from Maryland. He is an athletic freak (At 317 lbs. he ran a 4.78 40). He should be able to help out the Bills instantly. They need to rebuild the OL because I don’t care if Jim Kelly is behind center, with no time, no QB will be successful.

UPDATE!!!

Jay: check it out… With the 9th pick in the 2010 NFL draft, The future LA Bills select… (http://fwgnfl.com/?p=557)

Chris: I almost threw up in my mouth

Jay: haha

Chris: On the other hand, Cody could stimulate the Buffalo fast food economy
