2010 NFL Mock Draft Continued
Â
| NFL Team | Player Name | ||
|---|---|---|---|
| 17 | San Francisco 49ers (from Carolina) | S - Earl Thomas, Texas Longhorns | The 49ers could use some help in the secondary. I think Thomas is a great athlete who can cover up a lot of mistakes made by his teammates in front of him. |
| 18 | Pittsburgh Steelers | CB - Devin McCourty, Rutgers Scarlet Knights | At 4.34, McCourty ran the fastest 40 at the combine. He had a great Senior Bowl and I think he would be able to help out the Steelers secondary immediately. |
| 19 | Atlanta Falcons | DE - Everson Griffen, USC Trojans | I think the Falcons will draft a defensive end with the 19th pick. Atlanta only had 28 sacks last year. John Abraham is getting older and is certainly not the player he once was and in my opinion Jamaal Anderson is a BUST. With no good DE on the roster I like the Falcons to draft USC DE Everson Griffen. |
| 20 | Houston Texans | CB/KR - Kyle Wilson, Boise State Broncos | Wilson had a great Senior Bowl and really gave himself a good shot at the 1st round. Right now he is my 3rd rated CB. He is very fast and plays the ball very well. The Texans need help in the secondary very badly and Wilson will address those issues. Depending on where Haden falls, I could see Brian Price, Dan Williams or Earl Thomas falling here and the Texans would jump at one of those three. |
| 21 | Cincinnati Bengals | TE - Jermaine Gresham, Oklahoma State Cowboys | The Bengals should really consider Gresham. He is the number 1 TE prospect in this years draft. With Bryant and Ochocinco taking care of the outside of the field, Gresham will have a lot of space to work with in the middle of the field. I don’t care that he can’t block, put an extra lineman in when you are going to run the ball and let Gresham catch passes. I think he has the chance to be a Red Zone TD machine. Give Carson the TE weapon that he has never had. |
| 22 | New England Patriots | DT - Jared Odrick, Penn State Nittany Lions | The Pats were a little soft at the DT position at the end of the year with some injury problems. If they can get Warren and Wilfork under control expect them to address another need here but Odrick is a very talented DT and would help the Pats DL. |
| 23 | Green Bay Packers | S - Taylor Mays, USC Trojans | I love Taylor Mays. He is a middle LB playing safety. He hits like a Mac-Truck. He is questionable in play -action and at times doesn't take great angles to the ball carrier but I think he will be a great safety in the NFL. The Packers resigned Chad Clifton so they filled their OL need. |
| 24 | Philadelphia Eagles | LB - Sean Weatherspoon, Mizzou Tigers | Weatherpoon is a very good LB. He is the 2nd rated LB in my 2010 NFL mock draft. He is a little undersized for a MLB, but his amazing cover skills, speed, and tackling skills will force the Eagles to start him in the middle of their defense. |
| 25 | Baltimore Ravens | DE - Brandon Graham, Michigan Wolverines | Graham flew under the radar during his last year at Michigan but he is great DE. I have him ranked higher than most people do but if you watch him play, his motor never stops. He should help the Baltimore DL. |
| 26 | Arizona Cardinals | OL - Anthony Davis, Rutgers Scarlet Knights | Davis is an excellent OL. I think his stocked fell a little at the combine but any team that lands Davis will get a great OT. The Cards will need time with a new QB behind center. |
| 27 | Dallas Cowboys | C - Maurkice Pouncy, Florida Gators | Pouncy should be a first round pick in April. He can play any of the 3 interior line positions. He would be a very good fit for Dallas. |
| 28 | San Diego Chargers | RB - Jahvid Best, Cal Bears | Best had a very good showing at the combine. He ran a great 40 and I think he gave himself a shot at being picked in the first round. Best is a very talented back and some still think he may be an injury risk but with the 28th pick, and no big time back locked up yet, the Chargers should consider Best. (It will either be Best or Ryan Matthews from Fresno State) |
| 29 | New York Jets | OLB/DE - Sergio Kindle, Texas Longhorns | Kindle is a very fast OLB/DE. I'm guessing he will play OLB because of his size. He is an athletic player who will give Rex Ryan another option on defense. The Jets need a player who can get consistant pressure on the QB. |
| 30 | Minnesota Vikings | OLB - Jerry Hughes, TCU Horned Frogs | The Vikings didn't get great LB play this year. Jerry Hughes should help that. Look for the Vikings to think DT at this pick too. The Williams' brothers are getting older so they may look to get younger there. |
| 31 | Indianapolis Colts | OT - Charles Brown, USC Trojans | The Colts could really use a big time left tackle to protect Peyton Manning. I think Brown can be that guy. The Colts use this pick to bolster their OL. |
| 32 | New Orleans Saints | DT - Brian Price, UCLA Bruins | Price decided to declare for the NFL draft this year, after having a great Jr. season. It was a great move by him because his stock will never be higher. Price gets great penetration and tackles very well. The Saints don't need any help on offense so look for them to bulk up their defensive line. |

Pick 18 – Pittsburgh Steelers
Pick 19 – Atlanta Falcons
Pick 20 – Houston Texans

Pick 22 – New England Patriots
Pick 23 – Green Bay Packers
Pick 24 – Philadelphia Eagles
Pick 25 – Baltimore Ravens

“not so fast, my friend”…on that Packer pick. You say that the OL issue is fine now that Clifton has been resigned. But in your mock, TT could have a look at Anthony David yet. And don’t count out the thought of Brandon Graham. I think Dom Capers would be jumping up and down in the Packer War Room if he is still there at #23. The thought of Graham and Matthews at each OLB, gets me salavating!
Nice draft. I don’t see Carlos Dunlap going as high as you have him, but very much like the rest of the draft. How about a second and third round? That’s where this draft gets interesting.
I do not think Bryant will fall to 21 and so I do not think that is who they would take. I like Oderick going to Cincy or a TE, S, LB. There are plenty of other WR who will be available in later rounds. They might even take someone like Iupati if he were available.
I would agree with your picks for the Niners but if Williams is there at 13 they have to take him. They can’t hope that he falls to 17 because he is more important in this draft over Haden. A 2nd rd. CB can be had that is not much of a dropoff from Haden. The same cannot be said about OT.
I don’t see the Ravens reaching for a TE in the 1st round…With Jimmy Graham, Dorin Dickerson and Pittia from BYU you got lots of value in the 2nd and 3rd rounds… With all these talented players on D…they may try a playmaker who can get after the passer either at 3-4 DE or OLB.. CB is also in play as a they may pluck a starter like Robinson from FSU. Also even with the addition of Boldin…they may draft Benn, Tate, or Thomas from GT… That way if they resign Mason they just completely overhauled their weakest point on the team last year in a major way…
The only thing you can bet on is that they’ll stay true to their bored…
Look for patriots to franchise Wilfork and his wife and trade the both of them she is twittering all over the place on how Vince is being dised by pats so good by lard ass. Pats will try to fill big hole maybe Mt Cody if he can drop a pounds he looked like the dough boy from ghostbusters boy rolls and rolls of fat. Love pick of Odrick but I honestly think new choice unless coach hoodie has some sumo wrestler in the back room. Pats need to keep all draft picks and draft for need not the best player available. Passed last year on Matthews, Oher and bunch of others Bill had better try to fill holes in Oline, dline, linebackers. I think if they get somesort of rush the secondary will be ok…
The Steelers have holes in the DB, at NT, and OL. They will not pick a DE at #18, look for them to take an OT, Dan Williams, Mike Iupati, or Earl Thomas.
I totally agree with your 49ers picks. They would be perfect for them. Thomas would help make the Niners a turnover team. When they created more turnovers than the had, they had great games. The OT position will help the Niners be able to run effectively. They wanted to be able to a run first team last year but with their line injuries, they weren’t able to do so. A guard in the third round would help considerably. Good job with the mock.
Since Singletary missed out on Oher due to Crabtree falling to him, he won’t hesitate to get his guy this draft. I believe that’ll be Bulaga…because he’s got good pass protection and run blocking skills. His new OL Coach, Mike Solari, is known for his ability to coach up rookies to start their first season. Agree, Thomas is the next best S after Berry, but it’s not as much of a need position as CB. When Clements went down last season, Singletary was less than enthralled with either Bly or Tarrel Brown. That said, the top CB after Haden would be a fine pick…probably Warren or Perrish Cox. Pass rusher Brandon Graham might warrant some consideration, but Singletary’s leery of taking one that early since so many in recent years have fizzled.
